
Winner in Drama & Speech on November 29th, 2009
Theo, a senior, is a gifted student and talented member of the school's drama program. He holds a 4.0 weighted grade point average and scored 32 on the ACT. Theo began his love of speech and drama by active participation in Dramatic Forensics in middle school. He won multiple first place awards in Storytelling and Duo Improvisation. He carried this love of drama and theatrics to high school, performing in "Fame," "The Worst High School Play in the World," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Twelve Angry Men," "Grease," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," and "Singing in the Rain." Theo also is a member of the school's Celebration Show Choir. When given an assignment to produce a film for his digital film class, Theo showed a unique maturity in selecting topics that were not the most popular choices among his peers. He has been a great source of ideas and inspiration for his classmates and teachers. Theo is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. He was selected to attend the University of Mississippi's Summer College for High School Students, where he maintained a 4.0 average. He also recently participated in the Ole Miss Invitational High School Math Competition. He participates and has placed in the TMTA (Tennessee Math Teachers Association) competition. In addition, Theo is president of the Key Club, a member of the school's Knowledge Bowl Team, a member of Teens for Life and the German Club. He has volunteered for many service projects including working with the Cordova Rehabilitation Center and clean up day at the Wolf River Conservatory. Theo also is a Lector and Altar Server at St. James Catholic Church.
