
Winner in General Scholarship on November 1st, 2009
James, a senior, is a top student who is known for "quietly getting things done." He holds a 4.44 weighted grade point average and scored 32 on the ACT. He is ranked second in a class of 103 seniors and recently was named a National Merit Semifinalist. He has taken almost every honors course offered at SBEC including AP English and AP Calculus. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was vice-president of the National Junior Honor Society. He also is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. James is president of the Senior Class. He also served on the Student Council and currently serves as a Student Ambassador, representing the students and faculty at school events. A member of the Latin Club, James was awarded a gold medal on the National Latin Exam. He consistently makes the Honor Roll. He received the Honors Chemistry Award. He has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a member of the cross country and track teams. James is quite busy with his demanding schedule of classes and leadership responsibilities. However, he still finds time to volunteer in the community. He has participated in the Relay for Life. He also traveled on a World Changers trip to Indiana where he worked completing home repairs in low income areas. He also serves with other local charities in the Memphis area. He was voted "Most Likely to Succeed." His classmates think of him as the "voice of reason and action."
