Clay Hillyard - Bartlett High School

Winner in General Scholarship on April 4th, 2010

Clay, a senior, is an exceptional student and leader. He holds a 3.9 weighted grade point average and scored 28 on the ACT, including a 33 on the mathematics section of the test. He is ranked sixth in a class of 285 seniors. Clay consistently appears on the Principal's Honor Roll and was named a Top Ten Scholar at Bartlett High School. He currently is challenging himself by taking Advanced Placement Calculus. Clay has been inducted into the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Honor Club, National Spanish Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. Clay is a role model to his classmates. He was elected president of the Student Council and treasurer of the Honor Society. Clay sets goals for himself and then works diligently to achieve them. His dream is to become a biomedical engineer. He is a three-year member of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Clay has served in other leadership roles. He is the captain of the school's basketball team and also serves as a mentor. He is a member of the Big Brother/Big Sister Executive Board, a group that helps freshmen adjust to high school life. He also was chosen as Bartlett's representative for the Student Advisory Council, a group of seniors that meets with the school superintendent on a regular basis to discuss improvements for the schools. Clay was a member of Youth Leadership Bartlett, a group of students who come together for team building exercises and volunteer opportunities throughout the Bartlett community. With this group, Clay has volunteered at a city luncheon and at Youth Villages as a role model and mentor. He also has given his time to the March of Dimes Kids Corner during the annual March of Dimes Walk America event and assisted with the school's Special Olympics field day for children with disabilities.
