Catherine McConnell - Munford High School

Winner in General Scholarship on April 4th, 2010

Catherine, a senior, is an outstanding student, who is committed to academic excellence. She holds a 3.56 grade point average and scored 32 on the ACT. She has taken many advanced courses including AP Calculus, AP English and Honors Spanish. She is an active member of the Academic Knowledge Team and a senior member and president of the National Spanish Honor Society. Catherine attended the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts. She has received Academic Achievement Awards every year of high school. She also has been selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir for four years and named First Chair in 2009. She was named to the All-State Honor Choir for three years. She has been a member of the Munford High School Advanced Choir for four years and ranked "superior" in solo for the 2009 Solo and Ensemble. Catherine holds a leadership role in Cougar Vision, the class that broadcasts morning announcements. She has been involved in Tipton County's TOTAL Youth Leadership Program and Volunteer Girls' State. She is a member of the Drama Society and founded the Drama Kids Workshop, a week-long after-school camp for third, fourth and fifth graders. It was designed to promote drama and theatre at an early age. Catherine regularly volunteers for the Academic Knowledge Team Tournaments, Celebrate Munford, Spanish competitions, Atoka Safe Night Out and Cougar Camp. She also serves as a peer mentor at Munford High School, assisting her classmates when needed.
