
Winner in Science on March 28th, 2010
Albert, a senior, is a superior student and role model to his classmates. He holds a 4.38 weighted grade point average and scored 31 on the ACT. As a member of Central High School's optional program, Albert has taken Advanced Placement and Honors classes. He currently is enrolled in AP Calculus and AP Chemistry. He also has taken Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry and Honors Physics and excelled in each class. Albert received the Memphis City Schools William H. Sweet Award for Academic Excellence each year of high school. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Science Club and Science Olympiad Team. With the Olympiad Team, Albert earned several first place and second place medals in the regional competition. He is very organized and has excellent learning skills and study habits. He also is an exceptional student in the laboratory and is skilled in experimental design and problem solving. Albert has a very analytical mind that is well suited to work in the engineering field, which is his career goal. As a member of the Student Council and All-West Orchestra, Albert is respected by his peers. Although he has taken a rigorous course load, he has kept up his commitment to the orchestra by meeting on his own time to take lessons and learn new material. In addition, he has achieved the Life Rank in Boy Scouts and is working toward Eagle. He has been volunteering at the Evergreen Presbyterian Center for five years. He helps clean up the playground and passes out water at various races. He also serves the community by working at St. Patrick's Soup Kitchen. In addition, Albert has logged dozens of hours tutoring fellow students. He has a gift for explaining material to others. Albert also was a member of the soccer team and participates with the Frisbee Club.
