Paul Wagner - St. Benedict High School

Paul, a senior, is a top student who plans to major in engineering in college. He holds a 4.62 weighted grade point average and scored 30 on the ACT. He has received “Highest Average and Excellence” awards in Honors Physical Science, Honors Geometry, Computer, Honors Algebra II, Honors Chemistry, Honors Pre-Calculus and Honors U.S. History. He also has appeared on the Principal’s Honor Roll for all four years of high school. A diligent student, Paul understands the nuances of theorems in calculus and laws of physics. He has the ability to apply these concepts when solving problems. He readily adapts to the proper usage and context when working with the language of each subject. His sheer determination and natural aptitude will serve him well in a computer, science or math-related career. Paul received the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Award for outstanding academic achievement in the study of math and science. He has been inducted into the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. He is an active member of the Key Club and Spanish Club. He is a Student Ambassador and a member of Bridge Builders. In addition, Paul is the captain of the varsity soccer team and was named its MVP. He was a medalist in golf this year, was named MVP of the team and nominated for the All-Metro team. Paul was selected to represent St. Benedict at the engineering competition at the University of Memphis. He is an active member of his church youth group. He volunteers for the St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, Grace-St. Luke’s More Than a Meal program, the Ave Maria Home, Special Olympics and Thanksgiving food basket drives. He also finds time to tutor other students in math.
