Davis Nguyen - Bartlett High School

Winner in Science on March 28th, 2010

Davis, a senior, is an outstanding student and top science scholar. He holds a 4.19 weighted grade point average and scored a 31 on the ACT. He currently is ranked fifth in the senior class. Davis consistently challenges himself academically by taking Advanced Placement and Honors courses. This year he is excelling in AP English, Calculus, Chemistry and Physics. He is the National Honor Society's Public Relations Officer and the historian for Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. He also has earned membership in the Beta Club, the 30+ ACT Club and the National Spanish Honor Society. Davis was selected for the Science Olympiad Team and the school's Academic Team. With the Science Olympiad Team, he earned second runner-up at the Science Bowl at UT-Martin. He also helped his team win first place at the Munford High School Academic Tournament. He is a semifinalist in the Knowledge Bowl competition. Davis has made the Honor Roll regularly throughout his high school career. He is a serious student who never shies away from an academic challenge. He knows and understands the benefits of performing well in the classroom and is willing to put extra effort into his work to succeed. In addition, Davis is involved in a variety of groups in the community. He is a member of Ascension Catholic Church and its youth group, where he serves as vice-president. He also is a part of CHILD, a group that mentors and assists students in the community who need help. Davis plans to major in pre-medicine and become a physician. His college choice is Vanderbilt University.
