
Winner in Music on December 26th, 2010
Barrett, a senior, is a top student and talented musician. He holds a 3.95 weighted grade point average and scored 25 on the ACT. He is a member of the school’s National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa, the music fraternity at Mid-South Community College (MSCC). He has been named a Patriot Scholar and received the Thomas B Goldsby Jr. Scholarship from MSCC during his junior and senior years. Barrett is the French Horn Section Leader in the band. In the 10th grade, he was named Sophomore Marcher of the Year. Although this is his first year in the choral program, Barrett has been selected for the Chamber Choir, All-Region Choir and All-State Choir qualifier. When he auditioned for the North East Arkansas All-Region Choir recently, he received 9th chair. A member of the Disciples Club, Barrett’s leadership skills set him apart from his peers. His classmates respect him and follow his lead. He strives for perfection and works tirelessly to improve his skills as a singer. An active member of First Baptist Church in Marion, Barrett leads the Wednesday night worship service. He is on the Worship Arts Mission Team and plays French horn in the Sunday morning orchestra. He has performed in every play presented at the church since he was six-years-old and also performed in Christmas productions at a local Methodist church the last two years.
