Valencia Jennings - Mitchell High School

Valencia, a senior, is an extraordinary student who balances her academic work with many school and community activities. She holds a 4.2 weighted grade point average and is ranked third in her senior class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a Principal’s Honor Roll student. A diligent and organized worker, she is able to complete multiple tasks with favorable results despite many deadline pressures. She is involved in all aspects of school life. Valencia is the senior class vice president. She has held the positions of Ms. Freshman and Ms. Sophomore. She is the reporter for FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). She also is a representative for the Student Government Association. In addition, Valencia is a varsity cheerleader and has won many cheerleading awards. She also has received awards for running track. In the community, Valencia donates food for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, volunteers for concession stands at games, and sponsors a backpack drive at New Friendship Baptist Church. She also is a member of Bridge Builders, an organization that promotes cultural diversity. She tutors children at Ford Road Elementary School. She has been instrumental in helping organize the senior trip to Orlando, Florida. Valencia’s leadership and involvement in school activities has motivated her peer to become leaders, too.
