
Winner in Career-Technical on March 14th, 2010
Genaro, a senior, is a top student and leader in the classroom. He holds a 3.64 weighted grade point average. He is a member of the Digital Design and Imaging Class at Kingsbury Career-Technical School. In addition he is enrolled in the Advanced Placement Studio Art Class at Kingsbury High School, where he works with standard applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign and Adobe Photoshop. Genaro received Gold Key Awards for his artwork. He also received a digital art award in the scholastic art and writing competition. He is a member of the award-winning team for the promotional bulletin board at the Tennessee SkillsUSA State Competition. His artwork was selected as the cover art for Superintendent Kriner Cash's holiday card. Genaro has been involved with the PeaceJam Committee and the Afterschool Memphis Program. PeaceJam's mission is to create young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities and the world. One of Genaro's recent accomplishments is that his work was selected to represent the PeaceJam Conference-Memphis. Genaro's work is currently on display at Magna Bank in Cordova and the University of Memphis' Jones Hall. He has been nominated to Superintendent Cash's AAA Club representing Kingsbury C-T Center. Genaro consistently makes the Principal's Honor Roll. He also has received awards for citizenship and perfect attendance. He is involved in Service Learning employing skills learned in the classroom to work in the community. Genaro has been selected to attend the National Service Learning Conference in San Jose, California. He plans to attend the Memphis College of Art where he has been awarded a scholarship.
