
Winner in General Scholarship on October 2nd, 2011
Caroline, a senior, holds a 5.36 weighted grade point average, scored 34 on the ACT and 2380 on the SAT. She has been named a National Merit Semifinalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction. She has excelled in every academic area while taking nine Advanced Placement classes. She won the Princeton Prize in Race Relations for her composition on the subject. She also was a national finalist in the Diverse Minds Youth Writing Challenge. A valuable school leader, Caroline is president of the Cum Laude Honor Society, editor of the Emblem art and literature publication and a member of the Honor Council. She also is president of the Ascensus Society, a community service society for girls who have more than 125 hours of community service. This year Caroline founded Global Ambassadors, an in-depth program that brings together students to discuss global affairs and plans for action. She is vice president of the Fine Arts Council and has won two gold keys for her artwork from the Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards and a silver key from the National Scholastic Art Awards. Caroline is an active community servant. After traveling to Tanzania, where she saw the needs of children there, she single-handedly raised enough money, more than $15,000, to feed an entire village of school children for two years. In addition, she tutors at Emmanuel Center and developed a Summer Art Camp for inner city youth. She also has worked as an intern with Company D, a dance troupe for teens and adults with Down syndrome.
