
Winner in Career-Technical on March 14th, 2010
John, a senior, is a top student and videographer. He holds a 3.87 weighted grade point average. He leads by example and is highly respected by the faculty and his classmates. His work as a master videographer has been noticed by the athletic staff, the student body and the Memphis community. John's creative approach to video production and editing is matched by a pervasive and effective work ethic that results in entertaining highlight videos for pep rallies, as well as informative and essential film used by coaches in preparation for games. John and his camera seem to be everywhere. In fact, his work is so good that the basketball and football programs at LSU, the college he plans to attend next year, have been discussing the possibility of his involvement when he arrives in the fall. John has a deep passion for his work. He is the current videographer for boys and girls basketball; middle school, junior varsity and varsity football; and varsity boys and girls soccer. He was the Model United Nation's video press producer. John has worked to create the St. George's Gryphon Media (he is founder/director) and Gryphon Television (he is founder/producer). In addition, John is chairman of the Executive Council, an editor for the newspaper and yearbook staff and member of the Student Ethical Literacy Team. He is St. George's Great Outdoors Co-President and a member of the Global Citizenship Team, Coexist Club and Invisible Children Club. John has been active in community service. He has volunteered for the Race for the Cure, Shelby Farms MLK Day of Service, UTE Tribal Reservation Day of Service (Utah), Bridge Builders and the Leadership Board.
