
Winner in General Scholarship on March 7th, 2010
Daniel, a junior, is an excellent student with an inquisitive nature. He holds a 4.55 weighted grade point average and scored 34 on the ACT. He has a love for knowledge and isn't satisfied with just completing the coursework. He currently is ranked first in a class of 55 juniors. Daniel is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in Student Government. He has taken Algebra Dual Enrollment and excelled. His professor said that she was constantly amazed by his enjoyment of learning. Daniel was selected to attend the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts this past summer. In addition, he was the Field Commander for the Marching Band this past fall. He was invited to attend the All-State Conference for Band and has been a featured soloist. As Field Commander, Daniel was instrumental in making the marching season a success. He never missed a chance to lead by example and was willing to stay behind and help his peers. In this role, he also showcased his outstanding leadership qualities and was responsible for helping the woodwinds achieve a high level of excellence. On many occasions he stayed late to run an impromptu small group rehearsal with them. Daniel has contributed to many community service projects, often taking on leadership positions. He has collected toys for Fayette Cares' Christmas Toy Drive, raised money for the Memphis area Special Olympics and volunteered his services at school open houses.
