
Winner in General Scholarship on March 7th, 2010
Kris, a senior, is a top student who strives for excellence in everything he does. He holds a 4.489 weighted grade point average and scored 30 on the ACT. He currently is ranked fifth in the senior class of 291 students. He has taken the toughest courses offered including AP Chemistry, AP English Language, AP Physics and AP U.S. History. He was the first DeSoto Central High School junior to receive the designation of AP Scholar with Honors. Kris is set apart from his peers by his perseverance, confidence, openness and sheer determination. He is resilient and has a great work ethic. He placed second in the county chess championship and third in the state chess championship. He received the school's award for highest average in Chemistry I and scored in the top 10% of students taking the Chemistry exam at Mississippi College. Kris is a member of the National Honor Society and is senior class president. He is a member of the Leadership Board, Science Team, Spanish Club, Chess Club and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). He also was captain of the football team and captain of the power lifting team. He was named All District Honorable Mention for football. Kris has performed community service through active participation in many clubs and organizations. He also has raised money for Toys for Tots and tutored his classmates.
