Cody Rau - Brighton High School

Winner in General Scholarship on March 7th, 2010

Cody, a senior, is a top student who has taken a rigorous course load throughout his high school career. He holds a 3.957 unweighted grade point average and scored 33 on the ACT. He currently is ranked fifth in a class of 328 seniors. Cody received the Cardinal Academic Excellence Award for three years. He also received the 10th grade English scholar award for holding the highest average in sophomore English. He has received six hours of college math credit through an Advanced Math-Dual Enrollment program. This year Cody is taking AP U.S. Government, AP English IV, Calculus-Dual Enrollment and Physics. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. Cody has known since he was 9-years-old that he wanted to design and build houses. He began drawing house plans that year and now has more than 100 pages of sketches, drafts and models. His ambition is to major in architecture. He already has received the Founders Scholar Award from Tulane University. Cody is a member of the varsity wrestling team and treasurer of the Brighton High School Youth Alive organization. With Youth Alive, he has assisted with Jesus Fest, Christafestabalooza and area Christmas parades. He also performs community service through Heart-to-Heart ministries. He volunteered as a peer mentor last year. He is an active member of Crosspointe Baptist Church.
