
Winner in Science on January 8th, 2012
Priyanka, a senior, has a passion for science, a genuine intellectual curiosity and a determination to do her best. She holds a 5.51 weighted grade point average and scored 35 on the ACT with a perfect 36 on the science section of the test. She has been named a National Merit Commended Student and an AP Scholar with Honor. Last year, she received the top student award for AP Chemistry, scored 750 on the SAT II Chemistry test and received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award. Taking her classroom experience into the real world, Priyanka spent seven months at the UT Center for the Health Sciences researching the relationship between Kidney Injury Molecule I (KIM I) and Hypertension. Recently, she presented her findings to students, faculty and doctors. Priyanka is a member of the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Cliosophic Society, Quill and Scroll and National Spanish Honor Society. In addition, Priyanka is the founder and president of the school’s Health Club. She has logged more than 200 volunteer service hours.
