
Winner in General Scholarship on October 14th, 2012
Megan, a senior, is a top scholar who sits at the top of her class with a 5.68 weighted grade point average. She scored 33 on the ACT including a perfect 36 in reading and a 2310 on the SAT. She has been named a National Merit Semifinalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction. She is the school’s nominee for the Morehead Cain Scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill. She also earned two perfect scores on the National Latin Exam. A gifted student in science and math, Megan attended the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Sciences after her sophomore year. Last year, she received the AP Chemistry award. She currently is working with an engineer at Medtronic doing research on optimizing spacers in a spinal cord. Megan received the AP Human Geography Award as a junior and the Emory University Book Award for outstanding service and community building. She plays first violin in the Memphis Youth Symphony Orchestra and volunteers with the Refugee Empowerment Program. She also tutors students throughout the Memphis area.
