
Winner in Mathematics on April 11th, 2010
Nathan, a senior, is an outstanding student and mathematician. He holds a 4.37 weighted grade point average, scored 31 on the ACT and 2030 on the SAT. He has taken the most challenging courses offered at Olive Branch and is ranked among the top ten in his senior class. He was named a National Merit Semifinalist and was chosen to attend the Mississippi Governor's School, where he earned college credit. Nathan also was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine at The University of Chicago. This program taught leadership skills and helped students see the ins and outs in the "life of a doctor." Nathan has been on the Honor Roll all four years of high school. He is treasurer of the National Honor Society and a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. He also has been a member of the Beta Club and the school's community service organization, Interact. Nathan participated in the Mississippi Mu Alpha Theta Convention and Math Competition and the Mississippi Math and Science Competition. He won top school awards for English and Biology II. He earned A's in Honors Algebra II and Trigonometry and currently is taking AP Calculus. Nathan has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, American Red Cross, The Lymphoma Society, and the YMCA. Nathan also is the transportation contact for the school-wide recycling program for the National Honor Society. He has a thirst for knowledge and has an intellectual maturity. He is extremely respectful to his teachers and his peers. He plans to study pre-Medicine at Vanderbilt University.
